Cardiff Bay Beach returns later this month to offer families a free, sizzling urban beach experience of fun, sea and sand throughout the summer.
Starting from 28th July, you’ll be able to enjoy the city’s temporary seafront in Roald Dahl’s Plass, with a huge, family friendly beach, fairground, live entertainment and food and drink running up until 3rd September.
The beach and attractions will be open 10 am to 8 pm during the week and until 10 pm on weekends, giving families plenty of time to enjoy the range of entertainment and curiosities on offer.
A seaside resort isn’t complete without a traditional fairground and Cardiff Bay Beach has all the classics for everyone to enjoy. There’s something for everyone and something for all ages at the summer event.
Choose from the daring wave swinger or take a look at Cardiff from the top of the Ferris Wheel. Get your face painted before taking a beach buggy along the sand and make the most of your day.
The fairground is a quintessential part of any trip to Welsh beach and is a solid icon of British summertime. From helter skelters to carousels, it’s good family fun that can be enjoyed by all.
Entertainment at Every Turn
With over a month to enjoy all Cardiff Bay Beach has to offer, it’s no surprise you’d want to come back day after day.
Luckily for you, there’s a whole host of entertainment that varies throughout the summer. The Capital FM sponsored event has a number of resident Radio Cardiff DJs who will be keeping the tempo of the day in high spirits, with giveaways and fun competitions. You’ll have to keep an ear out, they’ll be offering new prizes every week!
Street performers and walkabout entertainers will dot the makeshift paradise while live music will take the stage in the evenings and at weekend.
A Platter of Delicious Dishes
With all the options for food on offer, your only problem is going to be how to choose what to eat! All of the independent food and drink outlets will overlook the Beach Entertainment Stage, so grab a bite and enjoy the performer of the day.
Summer just isn’t the same without a barbeque on the beach and Cardiff Bay Beach has got you covered. There will be giant grills supplying all the classics of a summer feast, expect burgers and hot dogs galore and indulge in a meaty treat.
When the beaming sun at the beach gets a bit too much, new for this year is a resident ice cream parlour with handmade ice creams and devilish milk shakes. Indulge in a sweet treat to cool you down and get the best ice cream in Cardiff.
Let’s not forget those tropical cocktails, perfect for a tasty refreshment on a warm summer’s day down on Cardiff’s waterfront. The bar even welcomes kids (as long as they stay off the hard stuff) and the Tropical Bay Bar boasts a fun, family-friendly atmosphere
