Signature Live Sessions: Poison Heart Disco at The Exchange Hotel

Tainted love is in the air on Friday 26th April 2019. Signature Live Sessions are calling all party people to dance the night away with world-renowned owned DJ’s John Pleased Wimmin, Andy Carroll and Paul Bleasdale. They’ll all be gracing the Exchange’s bewitching Grand Hall for the Poison Heart Disco – channelling the ’80’s darker, more mischievous twin.

Expect to hear the likes of Soft Cell, Siouxsie, The Cure, Bowie, New Order, Depeche Mode and many more ’80s alternative and pop classics all night long.

The Artists

Jon Pleased Wimmin

Jon Cooper AKA Jon Pleased Wimmin is a prolific UK DJ who grew up in London and rose to fame in the club scene during the early ’90s where his flamboyance, cross-dressing and fashionable demeanour provided him with the eminence he needed to flourish in the industry. After paying his dues as a clubber at influential late ’80s London venues such as Taboo, Sacrosanct and the Mud Club, Jon’s career as a DJ started officially in 1991.

Andy Carroll

Carroll first started DJing in and around Liverpool in the early’80ss, where his passion for music and eclectic appetite for a wide variety of genres drove him to fame within the industry. Andy has played in some of the best clubs in the world from New York to Berlin to Buenos Aires. He still remains an essential part of the global clubbing scene, even today.

Paul Bleasdale

Still the original Cream resident DJ – from its birth to the close of the club in 2002 – Paul Bleasdale essentially shaped the sound for Cream’s devoted following. He grew up in and around the electro and break scene of the 80’s, which paved the way for his evolution from clubber to DJ. Bleasdale has played all over the world, touring with Cream as a main resident as well as collaborating with up-and-coming underground House and Tech labels.

The Grand Hall

Having played host to a wide range of international musicians including Van Morrison, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics and Arctic Monkeys, The Grand Hall at the Exchange is one of Cardiff’s most beautiful heritage music venues. Dark wood panelling, opulent chandeliers and the historic ‘Tempus Fugit’ dragon clock are just a few of the details which make this venue so incredibly special.

Signature Live Sessions

Signature Live Sessions were born from an idea that Signature Living founder Lawrence Kenwright and Signature’s film maker Ian Lysaght both had when they were deciding how to make the most out of their new venue at Eden in Liverpool. After hashing out several ideas and none quite cutting the mustard, they realised that the best and only option was to begin putting on unique live music events to celebrate both local and national artists alike. Now, they are bringing the experience to this spectacular venue in Cardiff.
