Opening Weekend: The First Phase of The Exchange Hotel

The first phase of The Exchange Hotel will be up and running tomorrow for our official launch on 20th May 2017. And we couldn’t be more excited!

We’ll be celebrating this weekend with a variety of special events for those attending our opening. Attendees will have the first taste of our delicious Afternoon Tea, accompanied by a very special surprise.

The launch will see our beautiful Grand Hall filled with dynamic live music, reigniting the bustling, lively atmosphere that The Coal Exchange once knew.

If you’re coming along to launch this weekend or you’ll be in the area, don’t miss out on snapping the ultimate selfie with our very own Exchange Snapchat filter!

So as excitement buildings surrounding the upcoming launch, we thought we’d offer a glimpse at what you can look forward to…

Whether you’re a Cardiff local or looking to visit Cardiff this spring, you can expect an unforgettable stay at the Exchange Hotel.

Perfect for weekend breaks and romantic getaways, the Exchange is set to offer guests a luxury experience from start to finish.

The Coal Exchange is undoubtedly one of the most iconic buildings in history; the stunning space commemorates Cardiff’s remarkable influence on the coal industry.

In 1913 on the eve of the First World War, over 13 million tonnes of coal were exported. Up to 200 men would fill the grand trading hall each day, ready to make deals that would shape Cardiff and impact the world. Most memorably, the world’s very first £1 million pound deal was signed at the Coal Exchange itself, leaving a lasting mark on history.

Signature Living owner Lawrence Kenwright set out with a clear aim: to restore the building with purpose. Preserving the Coal Exchange’s unique features has been at the heart of the project from beginning to end, ensuring that the restored building will continuously showcase Cardiff Bay’s captivating story.

You can look forward to fabulous hotel rooms, equipped with elegant decor that will transport you to a world of luxury. Whether you want to sink into bed or your very own whirlpool bath, there’s plenty of opportunity for rest and relaxation.

Perfect for couples, families and groups of friends, the Exchange Hotel is expected to prove popular for Bank Holiday breaks in Cardiff, anniversary gifts, weekend getaways and special celebrations. Set to become a leading wedding venue, guests will be encouraged to host their wedding at the Exchange Hotel. The bride, groom and guests would be able to enjoy a sociable wedding experience with rooms accommodating groups of guests.

Prepare to dine in style at the Exchange Hotel’s Culley’s Restaurant & Bar. With a wide range of food and drink, you can expect heavenly, hearty dishes that are sure to hit the spot. Prepared to perfection by our dedicated team, each dish will be crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Culley’s will open a couple of weeks after the hotel itself, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan ahead for a memorable meal out in Cardiff. We’re hugely excited to “cheers” to the opening with you!

Dynamic Cardiff Bay is built on a unique history, making it all the more special to visit and explore. While staying in Cardiff Bay, there’s plenty of fantastic activities and sights to experience.

Top attractions in Cardiff Bay include the stunning Norwegian Church, the Millennium Centre, Pier Head Building, Mermaid Quay and of course Cardiff International White Water. There’s truly something for everyone in Cardiff, so whether you fancy a chilled out shopping break, soaking up the sights or hitting the rapids at speed, Cardiff has got you covered.

  1. Good Morning
I will be staying at the hotel with a group of friends (9 of us in total) on the 29th April as we are going to see Sister Act in the Millenium Centre. My friend Karen McMinn-Davies is the one who has booked for us and has told us that we have breakfast included. Where do we have our breakfast on the morning of Sunday 30th April and as Cullys Restaurant is not open until a few weeks after – is there another bar available to have alcoholic drinks late in the evening (after our show?)

    1. Your enquiry has been forwarded on to our reservations team

Thank you for your enquiry and we look forward to meeting you and your friends Hayley

  2. I have sent an enquiry re booking but have yet to hear back- how long is the normal reply time.
