Seen by over 7 million people, and the winner of over 85 international awards, this inspirational musical follows the beloved book by Cardiff’s very own Roald Dahl, and it’s magically-gifted protagonist Matilda as she struggles against the tyrannical reign of Miss Trunchbull and the ignorance of her parents.

Hansel, Gedeon and the Grimms’ Wood
When: 6-8 December
Featuring a vibrant cast of disabled and non-disabled performers from Odyssey and pupils from Woodlands High School, enjoy a retelling of the Grimms’ brothers famous forest tale as Hansel and Gedeon enter the woods which they’ve always been forbidden to explore.

Working – Canolfan Berfformio Cymru
When: 13 – 15 December
For an alternative Christmas musical, head to the Dance House where the Tony Award nominated “Working” paints a portrait of the men and women working hard in the world. Meet a schoolteacher, a phone operator, a waitress and a mill worker on stage in this performance based upon Stud Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers.
The Sherman Theatre
Little Red Riding Hood (Yr Hugan Fach Goch)
When: 9-10 November and 3-29 December
Step into the fairytale fantasy of Red Riding Hood with the Sherman Theatre’s bi-lingual production of the classic story.
Full of songs, music and fun, this is a revisited adaptation of the traditional story, perfect for young children and their families.

Fall down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland with the cast of this topsy-turvy stage show at the Sherman.

Margaret and the Tapeworm
When: 22 November – 22 December
Catch a quirky take on Christmas with this kooky tale of tinsel and tapeworms (no, really) at Chapter Arts Centre.
Margaret and Amber are set to discover an uninvited guest lurking in the office buffet on stage, whose appearance will set off some surprising consequences.
You might not fancy your complimentary glass of sherry and mince pie while watching this trio’s tale of seeking company at Christmas, but it’s there if you fancy.

Elf – The Christmas Spectacular

Catch everyone’s favourite Christmas movie on stage in Cardiff this festive season, as the hit West End musical arrives at the Motorpoint Arena.
